The Tea Party Syndrome

For years I have been thinking that normal, everyday people who make up the majority of America could never protest the way the radicals, both left and right have the ability to do. At a moments notice they can call up their legions of froth  spitting sycophants who are there to protest, rather than to protest something.

This week I was finally disabused of the nothing that this could not be, when nearly 350,000 normal everyday Joes and Janes gathered all around the country to protest the collectivist, socialist way they think the government is going.  My feelings on this subject are not germain to this articale, but I attended  one of these rallies in California and I was astonished at how well behaved to protesters were. There were not caustic shouting, no rock or bottle throwing but 7500 people standing and agreeing together with a voice that said ”I am mad as hell, and I am not going to take it any more.”

It was almost like watching a doctor playing baseball, they were completely out of their element. There were no frenzied shouting to incite anger or hate, merely the quite expression of that anger, and hate for the way the country is going.  It appears that middle America can be aroused to express themselves if the action they are responding to is reprehensible to them. The thought that trillions of dollars of debt are going be foisted upon their children due to the irresponsibility of others, is enough to get them off their recliners and actually start a movement. If I were a state or federal legislator, I would pay attention.
